Michael Burgess

Mike Burgess was appointed to the AFL Board in November 2007. He was the Chairman of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed Unwired Group Limited, an Intel Capital backed broadband wireless service provider until 2008. Further he was a non-executive director of ASX listed telecoms equipment manufacturer LongReach Group Limited and Insight Infrastructure Pte Ltd, a Singapore based investment company specialising in the deployment and management of wireless infrastructure until 2010.

Mike Burgess held senior position in the Marketing and Sales when he was in Xerox Corporation until 1980 in England, Netherlands, USA and Australia. He had 11 years experience in the IT industry prior to joining the international division of Telstra Corporation Limited to set up its Global Sales and Marketing organization. He built a multi-divisional, multi-country capability opening offices throughout Asia, the USA and the UK. Following the merger of its domestic and international operations he led its Corporate & Global Customer Division before becoming the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of its Commercial & Consumer Division.

He was appointed Director of Marketing, Sales & Joint Ventures with British Telecom for Africa, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific in 1995 prior to joining MSI in 1998. Following Marconi PLC’s acquisition of MSI in 2000, Mike became Executive Vice President of its Wireless Division and in 2001 of all its Asia Pacific operations. He was based in Hong Kong then Beijing and was responsible for business strategy and operational management of its direct, indirect and joint venture operations in Greater China, Korea, Japan, ASEAN, the Indian sub-continent and Australasia.

Mike holds B.Sc (Hons) from the University of Southampton and MBA from Cranfield University in UK. Mike has held executive and non-executive directorships in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the USA. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jens

Jens Rzesacz

Jens Rzesacz has over 30 years of experience in the financial sector and held various senior management positions in Deutsche Bank in Germany where he was leading Private Banking teams in Hannover & Munich before relocating to Asia in 1994.

In Asia, Jens Rzesacz initially worked as a senior relationship manager in Deutsche Bank Hong Kong before assuming the Thailand Market Head role for Deutsche Bank & consequently for Credit Suisse based in Singapore. In 2010 Jens Rzesacz was appointed Private Banking Head, South East Asia & South Asia for ANZ in addition to his Singapore Private Banking Head position. Currently, he is a Partner of Finaport, a Capital Market Securities licensed company under the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Jens Rzesacz is a bank academy graduate at Munich University and holds a Diploma in Banking & Finance from IHK Munich.

Tooraj Forughian

Tooraj Forughian

Tooraj Forughian has over 25 years of professional experience in the business development, sales and marketing, engineering practice and academia. His experience encompasses diverse Industries (power engineering and telecommunication), organizations (MNC, SME and Startup), and cultural environments (Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and South East Asia).

Following his graduation, he joined GEC Alsthom (a major power transmission equipment manufacturer in United Kingdom) as a design engineer and was later promoted to the post of senior design engineer in charge of the company’s AC research laboratory. In 1988, Tooraj moved to AK Fans Ltd (a defense-related company in the United Kingdom) to lead the electronic design activities of the company.

In 1993, Tooraj moved to Singapore to join Ngee Ann Polytechnic where in addition to academic duties, he provided consultancy services to several projects and co-founded Ngee Ann-Altera training centre. In 1999, Tooraj co-founded BBS Access Pte Ltd (a company engaged in the development and manufacturing of telecommunication and power utility metering products). As an executive director (Sales & Marketing) Tooraj played an instrumental role in taking the organization from a startup to an export-oriented, multicultural company and played a leading role in developing the brand and image of the company and its products. The company has been recipient of two Enterprise 50 awards, was ranked 3rd amongst privately owned companies in Singapore in 2005 and was awarded the prestigious Pioneer Status in 2004. Tooraj has represented the company in numerous trade missions out of Singapore.

Tooraj holds a Bachelors degree (Honours) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Masters of Science in Power Electronics from Loughborough University of Technology in United Kingdom. He has delivered several seminars across the world and has published numerous articles.

Tooraj has been an active member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE, UK) and has held various offices in the Singapore chapter of the Institution. Notably, he lead the IEE, Singapore Centre as its chairman in1999-2001 and was IEE’s representative in the Asia Board Region. He was also a member of the National Committee for Engineering Organisations in Singapore.
